Professional Bio
Dr. Jia Beibei joined the University of Prince Edward Island Atlantic Veterinary College (UPEI AVC) as the Assistant Professor of Aquatic Epidemiology in August 2022. In addition to a veterinary degree, she holds Master degree of Preventive Veterinary Medicine from Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Master degree of Veterinary Public Health from Germany Freie Universität Berlin – Thailand Chiang Mai University, PhD in epidemiology from UPEI AVC. Her doctorial and postdoctoral training was focused on in aquatic epidemiology between 2011 and 2022 at UPEI AVC. Her working experience with international animal health organizations gain her perspectives in transboundary animal diseases and emergency preparedness. She now researches the risk factors of complex gill diseases in farmed Atlantic Salmon in British Columbia Canada. Her career goal is to better health at the animal- human-environment interface. Her research interest includes knowledge synthesis, field investigation, biosecurity, spatial-temporal analysis, and modeling of risk factors.
