Professional Bio
Felipe is a Ph.D. candidate in the Center for Geospatial Analytics working as a graduate research assistant at the Machado Lab, which is housed in the College of Veterinary Medicine, North Carolina State University. Felipe’s research in the Machado Lab focuses on the use of spatial statistics, network analysis, and machine learning tools to investigate the spread of infectious diseases in livestock to support biosecurity, and disease control, surveillance, and monitoring strategies. Felipe also contributes to The Rapid Access Biosecurity (RAB) appTM, a biosecurity app developed in the Machado Lab, by processing swine shipment records for ingestion into RABappTM, creating maps to visualize biosecurity infrastructure of individual farms across multiple states in the U.S. and continuous testing of the application.
