Professional Bio

Dr. Renata Ivanek is a Professor of Epidemiology in the Department of Population Medicine and Diagnostic Sciences at Cornell University. Dr. Ivanek’s expertise is in epidemiology, food safety, and computer modeling, and her research is at the intersection of food and health, with an overarching goal of advancing One Health. Her computer lab develops sustainable data- and model-driven approaches for controlling animal and human infectious diseases, improving food safety, and optimizing antimicrobial stewardship and food production systems. Dr. Ivanek holds a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree from the University of Zagreb in Croatia, an M.Sc. in Veterinary Epidemiology from the University of London in the United Kingdom, and a Ph.D. in Comparative Biomedical Sciences from Cornell University in the USA. She is a co-Director of the Cornell Institute for Digital Agriculture (CIDA) and a co-Director of Cornell’s Combined DVM-Ph.D. Degree Program.
