Professional Bio

Thang Nguyen holds Bachelor degree in Public Health from the Hanoi University of Public Health, Vietnam, Master degree in Public Health from Universitas Gadjah Mada, Indonesia and PhD degree in Medical Sciences from Uppsala University, Sweden. Thang has 13-year working experiences in public health and one health in Vietnam. He participated in various research topics such as vector-borne diseases, one health, lifestyle factors and non-communicable diseases...After his master program in 2016-2017, Thang Nguyen became PhD graduate fellow of International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI) to study in the PhD program at Uppsala University from January 2018 - June 2022 with the project entitled “Understanding urban livestock keeping and vector – borne disease in growing tropical cities”. From June 2022 to May 2023, Thang Nguyen joined Mahidol-Oxford Tropical Medicine Research Unit (MORU), Thailand as Country Coordinator of a project titled “Enhanced modelling for NMCP Decision-making in the GMS to Accelerate Malaria Elimination”. He also took responsibility as a managing editor of Vietnam Journal of Public Health since May 2022 up to 31 July 2023. Currently, Thang Nguyen is a Research Officer I at ILRI to coordinate two projects, namely ICT4Health and Zoonoses work package of One Health Initiative.
