Professional Bio

I graduated from the faculty of Veterinary Medicine of the University of Padua. Following a year of clinical work, I pursued a PhD in Infectious Diseases at the University of Glasgow. My doctoral research relied on the application of whole genome sequence analysis to characterise the spread of pathogenic streptococci in humans and animals in Scotland. Upon completing my doctorate, I transitioned into a postdoctoral role with the University of Glasgow, conducting research in Scotland and Tanzania. In my postdoctoral role, I gained experience in various aspects of veterinary epidemiology, including fieldwork, data analysis, and the application of molecular epidemiology techniques. I have just started a new position as a knowledge broker for EPIC at the University of Edinburgh, where my responsibilities encompass knowledge exchange and veterinary risk assessment. My professional interests centre around various aspects of animal infectious disease control, including translation of science into policy.
