Dr. Gerardo Aquino is a Senior Mathematical Modeller In the Department of Epidemiological Sciences of the Animal & Plant Health Agency (APHA) of the United Kingdom. He obtained his PhD in Statistical Physics in 2004 and has since worked extensively in modelling emergent phenomena in complex physical, biological and social systems, publishing over 30 journal refereed papers. He joined APHA in 2021 and his current research work involves both building infectious disease models and advanced statistical analysis of surveillance and epidemiological data, with a focus on producing practical recommendations to inform government policy, particularly on bovine Tuberculosis.
