Sue C Tongue
Reader In Veterinary Epidemiology & Public Health - SRUC
Professional Bio
Sue is a vet and epidemiologist based at SRUC (Scotland’s Rural College), in Inverness, where she has been working in the Epidemiology Research Unit (now the Centre for Epidemiology and Planetary Health) for the past 13 years. After graduating, she spent a substantial period of time working in mixed general practice, before an MSc in Veterinary Epidemiology led her to join the Epidemiology Department at the Veterinary Laboratories Agency. Here she worked as a veterinary epidemiologist within the TSE Programme (mostly scrapie-related). After a few years, and a PhD, she moved across the site to work as a Veterinary Pharmaceutical and Feed Additives Assessor at the Veterinary Medicines Directorate. She then escaped to the Highlands to avoid the daily M25 commute. Her research since has covered a wide range of activities associated with the epidemiology, control and surveillance of endemic livestock disease, including zoonoses.
