Valerie Hungerbühler
ECVPH Resident - Veterinary Public Health Institute
Professional Bio
I studied veterinary medicine in Switzerland, graduating in 2019 with a major in biomedical research. Initially drawn to immunology, my focus shifted towards population health prevention. After completing my studies, I assisted in a large-scale study on the back health of the Swiss horse population and conducted research on the impact of saddle pressure on equine back pain for my doctoral thesis. Subsequently, I began my residency at the European College of Veterinary Public Health, which I aim to complete this year. A four-month NGO internship, including a study stay in Ethiopia, fueled my passion for development research. I participated in a transdisciplinary project addressing PPR intervention for pastoral Somali women. Upon returning to Switzerland, I delved into qualitative health research and pursued courses in participatory community engagement and qualitative data analysis, which are vital interests of mine.
