Professional Bio
Waseem Shaukat is a PhD student at University of Calgary in Canada. Originally, he is a veterinarian trained in Pakistan with a DVM and a Master’s degree in veterinary epidemiology from University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences Lahore. He worked in Pakistani dairy industry for 12 years in various roles from 2009 to 2021 including dairy development, farm economics, planning & and execution of livestock businesses, capacity building, program management, and applied policy research. He also served as General Secretary for the Corporate Dairy Farmers Association (CDFA) of Pakistan from 2014-21 and as Research Partner for Pakistan with the International Farm Comparison Network (IFCN) from 2012-21. In September 2021, he started his PhD at the University of Calgary in Canada under supervision of Dr. Herman Barkema where his current research is focused on epidemiology and economics of endemic infectious diseases in dairy cows with an emphasis on Salmonella Dublin.
